Metal Figures
OK...It's confession time. When I
first saw that Conte was putting single color metal figures in his playsets, I
sort of rolled my eyes. I guess there was enough of the purist in me to
want my playsets to be made up of plastic figures. Now,
however, the first thing I look for are the metal guys. They have become
the stars of the show. The hand to hand vignettes in this set and in
Stamford Bridge and the Alamo playsets bring a focal point to my imaginary
battles. I'm finding I now have much the same attitude toward the pewter
figures as I have toward the character figures in my Marx sets. They
become more special because they are individuals...not just one out of a pack of
clones. In fact, I'm lobbying Richard to do small runs of some of the
other metal figures in single color to be sold individually. RC sort
of went overboard with this set by including 14 metal figures...but I am sure
glad he did.
